China Bound 3
Jeremiah Stroup local media personality and event emcee moderated a private press conference at "China Bound 3" an internationally inspired event hosted at the Benson Hotel in downtown Portland, Oregon. The event was attended by fashion press and fashion supporters alike that wanted to see that latest collection from Project Runway Season 7 winner Seth Aaron along side up and coming designers like Tony Dimitri and other local fashion retails and "influencers".
If guests missed Seth's solar inspired collection seen at Portland Fashion Week (2010) they got to see it at "China Bound 3" with a few new twists. All involved stuck around after wards to shake hands, take photos and meet with fans. The mood was festive and encouraging as local support to take Portland's design savvy to the manufacturing powerhouse of China seems strong.

Tips for Better Relaxation
Most of us don't breathe deeply enough. Instead, we're shallow breathers and air only really enters the top part of our lungs. That's especially so for people who wear tight clothing or sit hunched over at the computer.
What we need to do is use the most important muscle used for breathing, our diaphragm. It's a sheet of muscle at the bottom of the lungs.
So, place one hand below your ribs. When you inhale, allow that hand to expand outwards. When you exhale, let that hand fall back to its original position. It may feel strange at first and it takes practice, so be patient with yourself.
So let's put it all together:
- Breathe in and count in your head starting from one
And that's it. When you're beginning, just repeat this 4 or 5 more times and work up from there.
As you practice this technique, you'll find it becomes more and more effective at relaxing you when you're stressed.
In the middle of a busy day, it's a nice way to give yourself a small, well-deserved break, to take care of you.

Some Summer Inspiration
The weather has warmed up and summer is officially here. With a burst of color out our door why not transform your interior with some fresh paint. A vacation to a warm tropical location may not be in the cards for you this summer (though we could always hope so) but we can always warm things up the house with some cool décor, accessories and wall color.
One site suggests Summer Meadow Colors. “Lush grass, abundant sunlight, daffodils—the colors of summer are warm and welcoming. With their lively, joyous spectrum, they can instantly perk up the mood of any interior room. Consider these summer-inspired paint colors, and see how they'll vitalize your interior decorating”*
Absolute Painters could always assist you on a summer project. Whether you are power washing your patio or deck as you prepare for summer BBQs or you want to splash some color inside without out any hassle. Perhaps they can do all the work while you kick back in a lawn chair sipping on ice cold lemonade, soaking up the summer sun.

Doing it Anyway
This quote inspires me to move forward and do my best in spite of others and some days in spite of myself. I hope it moves you closer to your dreams as well.
People are unreasonable,
illogical, and self-centered,
LOVE THEM ANYWAY
If you do good, people will
accuse you of selfish,
ulterior motives,
DO GOOD ANYWAY
If you are successful, you win
false friends and true enemies,
SUCCEED ANYWAY
The good you do will
be forgotten tomorrow,
DO GOOD ANYWAY
Honesty and frankness
make you vulnerable,
BE HONEST AND FRANK ANYWAY
What you spent years building
may be destroyed overnight,
BUILD ANYWAY
People really need help but
may attack you if you help them,
HELP PEOPLE ANYWAY
Give the world the best you
have and you'll get kicked
in the teeth,
GIVE THE WORLD THE BEST YOU'VE GOT ANYWAY.

What's Next.: Extend and Expand
Today I head to central Washington as part of our national expansion. I am slated to go to Las Vegas in March, and we should be adding affiliates in Los Angles, San Deigo, and New York in the months ahead. Our target markets include dynamic members of Gen-Y and Gen-X that are well versed in social media and not overly concerned with others opinions. In fact that are influencers not afraid to share their own thoughts and ideas with the world and stand boldly on topics of interest, causes and core beliefs.
Malcolm Gladwell talks about these taste-makers and trends setters in his book "The Tipping Point" naming them "Connectors", "Mavens" and "Salesmen".
These local icons may hold key positions in the community or simply have massive influence over those who do. In John Maxwell's book "360 Degree Leader" he points out that you don't have to be on the "top" of an organization to have influence or create change. I couldn't agree more. So who will you influence today?

Get Invaded
Working on the Social Media for Invasion Ultra Lounge should be an interesting exploration. This Ultra Lounge features retro furnished seating area on the main floor in view of the bar and an upstairs loft with VIP areas and more seating for groups and special events like Birthday Parties. This venue has been open for about a year now but is in the process of re-branding itself and is still undiscovered by much of the Portland club goers. The clubs new approach is designed to appeal to the mainstream crowd while keeping the pull it has for the eclectic crowds and divers groups that seem to fit will with it's dynamic decor and hip urban vibe.
More on this new club at www.InvasionPDX.com Open: Tues, Thursday, Fri, Saturday. 4p-close

22 Days in
This New Year, as it is lovingly called 20-10 is off to an interesting start. I spoke to a small group of businesses owners this week about how many of us may have had a 'false start' to 2010. We perhaps with ambition and drive rushed into this new year with great expectations only to stumble and fall a few days into our race. Never mind that, we can still jump back up, dust ourselves off and move on from here. We can regain momentum, and take a realistic view of what it really will take to achieve all we have set out to do. Effort, determination and a wiliness to 'earn it' are all important elements on our road to success. My daily reading from accent texts has started well and I do have to say boosts my knowledge and confidence as each day I add to my track record of success. I hope to add Blogging/Vlogging to my weekly agenda and find other new and key habits that will add to my success. Call it putting the "Slight Edge" to work for me, in the end each day we build the future we will one day live in, and I am excited to see what 2010 holds for all of us.
